LAST DAY OF APRIL!
Today was pretty chill. We basically did nothing today (which was fine, I needed a break from being productive). There was a luau party at the church tonight, and they had an entire roasted pig! It was awesome. Now we're in the middle of watching The Blind Side.
I wish I had something more exciting to blog about on my last day of BEDA, but I guess I can say that life is good, and that is pretty awesome.
Rebekah doesn't actually write blogs, the words assemble themselves out of fear.

BEDA #29
Sorry for the cliffhanger last night. I should probably share some details now :) My laptop has been really crappy lately... I mean, it's always been crappy but it's been a lot worse the last couple weeks. The fan goes into overdrive within 30 seconds of turning it on, it freezes up all the time, and then there's the everlasting issue where it has a battery life of about 20 minutes on a good day. It's just a piece of junk.
Yesterday Nathan and I looked at the laptops they were selling at the bookstore here, but none were really what I was looking for. I wanted a 14 inch screen (I'm over big heavy laptops), and that eliminated the issue of whether or not to get a 10 key pad. In the last couple of years, when the 10 key pad first started becoming popular on laptops, I totally wanted one, but now I couldn't care less. I don't need to use the calculator often enough to necessitate a few extra inches.
I also wanted a webcam so I can Skype with my friends without taking over Nathan's computer. I wanted an optical drive, which is surprisingly NOT a standard feature anymore. I wanted a decent hard drive, but the minimum nowadays is 320GB so that definitely exceeds "decent" for me. Didn't care much about the processor or the RAM, as long as it was better than my current computer. Oh wait, everything is better than my current computer.
I spent a couple hours Googling yesterday and between reading reviews on CNET and checking Amazon for a good deal, I started messing around on Dell.com and HP.com, customizing a laptop. Dell wasn't really working for me, but on HP I came up with one that either met or exceeded all of my requirements, and at a really good price, too. Nathan and I went over the details and managed to knock another $100-ish off (because really, who needs an optical drive with LightScribe? it's this huge gimmick; I can label my CDs with a sharpie like everyone else), THEN we got the price down even more by finding a coupon code for $30 online! We had decided a budget of $700 would probably get me everything I needed in a computer from a manufacturer that I trust, but I didn't even get close to that :D So we both agreed that it was a really good system for a great price, so we placed the order!
I'm expecting this laptop to last me a while. I'm pretty kind to my electronics and I'm not one to keep around useless things, whether they be in the physical world or digital so I can't see myself ever needing to upgrade my 500GB hard drive. Also I don't feel the need to upgrade everything just because something new comes out. In my ideal world, the next computer Nathan and I buy will be a really nice desktop computer, which will be the family computer. I think we'll probably build it ourselves.
Buying a computer off of a shelf, it's just not a very good deal. You either pay too much for features you won't use, or you pay too much for a whole system when you only want ONE specific feature.
Anyway, that's about it! Can't wait to blog about my new computer when I get it :)
Other than that, today was pretty good! I worked for a while, then we came home and killed some time. Then I went to the grocery store with my friend Joanna and bought some tomatoes and cilantro so I could teach her to make my famous salsa! After we made it, we took it to our friends' (Breia and Mike) apartment for their housewarming party! We had a lot of fun :)
That was pretty much my day! Tomorrow is the last day of BEDA, and while my life is nowhere near exciting enough to necessitate blogging every day, this has been a good exercise and I hope to continue blogging more frequently from now on.

HEY! So now I'm going to talk about Easter!
These are our baskets! Notice the copies of Portal 2 hahaha. I don't really like peeps but they were pink and blue! We had lots of good candy AND some bubbles :)
Church was very good, and for dinner, our friends Clark and Joanna came over for taco salad! It was pretty awesome, and Joanna made LAVA CAKE! We also watched Ratatouille and then we all went over to our other friends Mike and Breia's new apartment to play with their cute dog and play a game! It was a pretty great day!
This week has been kind of blah though. I feel like I'm living for the weekends haha. Look at the Easter eggs I dyed! Sorry the picture is sideways.

Jeez, I'm sorry, I've just been really busy and exhausted but Easter was great so I'll definitely update on that (hopefully tomorrow, but no promises). I'm definitely getting a little worn out with blogging every day but I am trying to stay sane :( Good thoughts my way please?

Today we slept in! It was very nice. Not much happened today. We watched some 30 Rock on Netflix and went to Walmart and the grocery store. Broulim's had some corn on the cob so we had that for dinner :) Our Easter baskets are all done and they're pretty cool! I'll post pictures tomorrow! I miiiight have gone a bit overboard but I have a weakness for brightly colored treats haha.
Well... it's getting kinda late so I'm going to go to bed.

Can I just say I am soooooo glad that it's the weekend? Nathan and I are watching Back to the Future. I've never seen it before! So I'm gonna get back to watching it now. I get to sleep in tomorrow :) Have a good Friday!

(Pretending that I blogged last night.) Today was not quite as one-track as yesterday, but pretty close. I worked for a while, then I picked up my prescription which was WAY more complicated than it should have been, then Nathan and I tried out a new restaurant called El Garten Latin Kitchen, and the food was really good, and then we rushed home to watch Michael Scott's second to last episode of The Office, and I really liked it! The ending was adorable.
I don't know if I've mentioned this before on the blog, but I have fallen in love with vanilla almond milk. I'm not lactose intolerant or vegan or anything lame like that, it just tastes really good! Especially on unsweetened cereal! Also it's tasty to drink and it's not weird like soy milk. Almond Breeze is definitely the best brand of the two I've tried so far. If you're not lactophobic, check it out!
Is April over yet? Sigh.

Wow, today sure felt really long. I was on campus at 7:45 in the morning (but I didn't start working until 8:45) and didn't leave until 5:45. The classes I worked in were good, I think I'll enjoy them. It's just always a little difficult transitioning from having to do nothing for a couple weeks to working 40+ hours a week haha. I don't think I've ever worked this many hours, even when I had two jobs, so it's great money-wise but I am a little worried about getting burned out. Any tips on how to stay relaxed?
That's all I have time for today. Bedtime, you know.

Sorry, this is gonna be another short one. This morning Nathan and I got up early and went to the doctor's office so I could get a blood test so I can start my Accutane. After the blood draw, we went to Winco and got a bunch of good groceries. Following that, we came back home, met our new neighbors, and watched some 30 Rock. I had my dermatologist appointment at 1:30 and the doctor said my blood tests came out excellently and I was good to go for Accutane. So we went to Walmart and dropped off my prescription and picked up some good Easter candy! It's not enough to fill the baskets we got so I need to go buy more sometime this week haha.
After that, we came home and watched more 30 Rock and then we went to my work "orientation meeting" at the Pizza Pie Cafe. We ate pizza and discussed how crazy-busy this semester is going to be and then we got our schedules! My schedule is pretty packed, I'm working 40 hours, which should be good for the cash flow but may be a little hectic while I get used to the new schedule. But it should be fun! I get to work with everyone but my boss and I think a lot of my classes will be interesting and/or fun :)
We just found out that Nathan and I have a break together on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Yay! I love him so much, he's the greatest :)
I guess this wasn't as short as I thought it would be, but there you go. I need to get to bed now, though. I've got a full day of work tomorrow! Night!

We're back in Rexburg! It's been a longggg travel day and Nathan and I are really happy to be back in our own cozy little apartment. Nathan's taking a bath and I'm watching Tangled... again. I really should be putting stuff away but I'm pretty exhausted so I'm allowed to relax a bit, right? Right.
...Yep, this is all you're getting today.

Today was pretty cool, but I want to talk about something that I realized yesterday. I've had medical problems since I was born, so I am no stranger to shots, blood draws, and IVs. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, but I never particularly minded. But this last year I had a couple bad experiences selling plasma when we were beyond broke. For $20, passing out and throwing up really wasn't worth the trouble. And then there is the other negative effect that's lasting a bit longer.
I hate needles! When I was at the dentist yesterday morning, when he was shooting the local anesthetic in my mouth, my legs got all shaky. I started sweating. My stomach got all tied up. It was pretty freaky, I thought something was very wrong. Then I realized I was getting the shakes because I was scared of the needle in my mouth. So crappy.
How do I get over this? Please help. It's never been a problem in 21 years and suddenly it's an issue.

Late again :\ I think I'll be better at blogging once we're back in Idaho. There's just too much to do and not as much computer time!
Yesterday was pretty fun. A little disappointing but I'll get to that. I went back to the dentist for my second and last filling, and it was your average numb-your-face, drill-your-teeth thing. But when the numbness finally wore off, I wasn't sore at all, which was good. While the left side of my face was still pretty numb, Nathan and I met my oldest friend Johnathan at a really good local restaurant, a small Italian joint called Cristianos. Everything I've ever eaten there has been awesome, but by a long shot my favorite thing is their spinach salad. Spinach, mushrooms, BACON, a ton of mozzarella cheese, and some tasty tomato vinaigrette. The level of deliciousness is mind boggling. Johnathan got the Italian chef salad which is piled high with all kinds of amazingness, and Nathan got a HUGE calzone. It was a very satisfying lunch :)
After we finished eating, we headed to Redmond. Johnathan works at Nintendo and he was pretty sure that he could bring guests into the employee store--he'd seen people who were obviously not Nintendo employees in there several times--but alas, the old front desk receptionists were mean and turned us away. But the lobby was pretty cool! Haha. But we went back to Johnathan's apartment in Bothell and watched some Parks and Recreation on Netflix before we headed back to Marysville.
Nathan and I were both suuuuper tired all day yesterday and the Nintendo thing was a bit of a drag but we ended up having a fun day.
It's our last full day in Washington today and I didn't get to see everyone I wished I could see, but I did my best. We'll be back in August so it's not like it was my only chance to ever see my friends and family. I'll let you know how today was later :)

Today I ran some errands with my friend Shanna and got to hold her SUPER CUTE BABY, watched a documentary about Pixar and half of a documentary about Helvetica the font, and then went out to sushi with Nathan and my friend Katie at my friend Jae's restaurant. I'm still not feeling well but it was a pretty good day. My sister wants me to go over to her house and watch Eclipse but I hope she'll forgive me because all I want to do is go to sleep and stop coughing.
Tomorrow I have to go back to the dentist to get my other filling but then Nathan and I are hanging out with my friend Johnathan and hopefully getting into the Nintendo employee store :) There are other things on my schedule but I can't muster the energy to open a new tab right now. I'm very very very tired.

Soooo today I was sicker. I thought I was getting better but my cough is getting really painful. I'm also sneezing a lot but that could just be allergies. Today was pretty good though! I went to Costco with Nathan and his mom, then we went to Lowe's to buy some wood, and then we went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and then I took a nap. Nathan helped his mom build a book case thing.
I went to pick up my friend Alexis from work. We went to the music store in town and I bought a new ukulele and she bought sheet music for "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and a guitar stand for her boyfriend. We had a good time hanging out. We got some awesome Mexican food (three times in a week, don't judge me). We hung out at her house for a little while but then I came home.
This blog's gonna be short but hey, at least I updated on time! Nathan and I are going to cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. See you tomorrow :)

I'm getting pretty bad at this. Late again, but in my defense I'm getting sick. I'll try to be on time today :)
Yesterday was pretty busy! I went to the dentist... twice. The first time I got new x-rays, a good cleaning, and an exam. I have some decay on two of my teeth (both molars, in the bottom back, separate sides) so they want me to come back to get those filled. Conveniently there was a spot open a couple hours later so I left the office, got some lunch, picked up Nathan from HIS dentist appointment (so technically I went to the dentist three times), got HIM some lunch, and went back to my dentist.
Everyone who works at my dental office is totally awesome. The receptionist, dental assistants, the hygenist, the dentist himself, they're all really cool! I feel bad for people who fear going to the dentist because of some trauma early in life, because I enjoy going! Even when I'm getting a cavity filled! Well, THAT part wasn't like... the highlight of my life. Anesthetics of all kinds make me feel nauseous and a little bit loopy, but this one wasn't too bad. I was numb for several hours, but I'm proud to announce that I didn't drool. Maybe I did, I'm not sure. Because of the numbness, the corner of my mouth felt cold so I thought it was wet but it never was. I have to go back in on Thursday to get my other filling.
While I was still numb, Jenn Zee came and picked me up and we ran a couple errands (which involved getting Italian sodas) and then went to dinner at the glorious IXTAPA in Lake Stevens. The numbness wore off and the sickening jaw pain began right before we started eating but by the time I was done with my enchilada and tostada, I felt fine. Mexican food works better than Advil :) There is a TON of good Mexican food in the Snohomish County area, but Ixtapa is in my top two favorites. The other one is El Paraiso in North Everett on Colby. Mmmmm... but the food was great, and the conversation was, as usual, hilarious and awesome. I miss all of my friends but I REALLY miss Jenn when I'm far away. I'm glad we always get together when I'm home for a visit, no matter how busy she is with work and grad school :)
That was basically my day yesterday. This trip hasn't been chock full of excitement but I'm having a good time. I'm still trying to solidify plans with other friends so I hope it all works out.
