It's April 1. This means BEDA--Blog Every Day in April. I'll be shocked if I make it, but one can always hope, right? On April 6, classes end and I am freeeeee! Nathan and I are driving to Boise and flying from there to Seattle on the 7th and I could not be more excited. I'm not a student but I get just as burned out as they do at the end of the semester, so I'm excited for spring break :)
It's kinda funny to think that some of my favorite things about going home are eating at my favorite restaurants! But really. I am looking forward to sushi at Tokyohouse, macho burritos at El Paraiso, fish and chips and perhaps a cup of clam chowder at Ivar's, and so on. Restaurants in Rexburg leave a lot to be desired... except the taco bus. I love the taco bus. And Pizza Pie Cafe. What's not to love about a pizza buffet? (The answer is the weight you gain after going. But I digress.)
I kinda hate April Fools Day. None of these brilliant "I'm pregnant/engaged/broken up" pranks are even funny and are so far removed from originality. Oh well, just a couple hours left and then relationship statuses will go back to normal.
In Nathan news, he is now the proud owner of a deep fryer and a waffle fry cutter since I love him so much and like shopping online. Obviously waffle fries and other such delightful fried foods are in my future. A word to the wise, the best thing to dip fries and onion rings in is a mixture of equal parts ranch dressing and barbecue sauce. If you've ever had the onion ring sauce at Red Robin (known as "campfire sauce"), now you know how to make it. You may thank me, the former Red Robin kitchen employee. The BBQ sauce they use is pretty tangy and smoky, more than most grocery store sauces so you might have to experiment with different kinds if you want your own campfire sauce to taste exactly like Red Robin's. But really... any barbecue sauce will be fine.
This weekend is general conference and I'm pretty excited. If you are a little confused, general conference is a Mormon broadcast that happens on two weekends a year, where church leaders speak to all the members in the world. It sounds kinda boring, and sometimes it is, but I've learned to like it. It's like going to church but you can watch it on TV (if you live in Utah or Idaho or have satellite TV) or stream it online so you don't have to do your hair or change out of your pajamas and you can eat homemade cinnamon rolls. It's pretty chill.
My point is, I'll probably recap it a bit this weekend. Not in too much depth because I don't take notes (ha) but I'm just saying that I'll talk about it just so I know what I can blog about for the next two days :D
I might update my food blog on days where I don't have any life updates or even vague thoughts to talk about on this blog, but if/when that happens, I'll make another post here giving you a heads up. Keep me accountable, readers. (Do you even exist or am I just deluding myself that anyone reads my blog?) Also, feel free to join in on BEDA and leave a link to your blog in the comments so I can try to one-up you every day. Just kidding. But really, leave your blog address.
This is all I've got for tonight, but just in case this hasn't occurred to you, 2011 is 25% over as of today... if we're going by months and not days. I'm going by months because it's easier.
I'm reading, and I will hold you accountable! I hope you will do the same for me. http://www.ybound.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI can't believe 2011 is 25% over. I never would have thought of it that way... Yikes!
Just discovered your blog and now will be a reader (hey you're now in my bookmarks! ). I'm not going to attempt BEDA, but you can read my blog if you want at zippitydoblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your BEDA...I won't be doing that this month - but maybe next month?
ReplyDeleteI only have 3 more books to review!!! You already have my blog...The Uncrushable Jersey Dress.
See you Thursday!
