Sporadic Life Update!

Hey there! Long time no update? I have actually been really busy for the first time all year and it's pretty awesome! After a long, crappy winter, the sun started shining and I managed to score not one but TWO jobs! The first job is a transcribing job up on campus that starts in September (although I am doing online training until then), and it's really awesome and pays really well and they basically said that they hired me BECAUSE I was a college drop out hahaha. See, my lack of educational ambition is good for something after all!

The second job is at a call center, calling people to take surveys. After a whole week of working there, I quit. Seriously, how does ANYBODY manage to stick with such a horrid job? Since I get paid to do the training for the other job, I figured I'd just work harder every day on that, and so far it's working out pretty good!

More about the better job... hopefully by the end of August, I will be a certified TypeWell transcriber! THIS is a really good article about what I've been working on the last week and a half. I ordinarily type at 85-90 wpm with 99% accuracy, but by the time I'm finished I should be typing at 150+ wpm! The system has this really cool computer program that has tens of thousands of abbreviations for basically any word you can think of, plus a lot of cool tricks like how to correct mistakes without having to backspace and how to punctuate without pressing the shift key. (They won't just let me use the period button, which I find to be a little silly, but maybe when I'm actually typing a lot faster it'll make more sense.) I've been working really hard on it the last few days and I'm trying to get it done on time!

Other exciting news, WE HAVE A CAR :D Nathan's cousin Taylor gave it to us last weekend and it's been a lot of fun teaching Nathan how to drive a stick shift, but he's got the hang of it now! I would post pictures of it but we keep losing the camera! Thank you, Taylor! Also, as an employee of the college, I get FREE PARKING ANYWHERE ON CAMPUS! Nathan's been enjoying that lately :)

Nathan is almost done with the semester, and he's working really hard on finishing all of his final projects and papers. I wish he had more time to relax and de-stress before moving onto the next project, but I guess that's the life of a college student (see also: why I quit school). The semester is over next week, and then the week after that we are going to drive back to Washington!

Last night I went to the Rexburg farmer's market with my friend Joanna and I bought a "Bratwurst im Brot" from some German guy and I spoke disgustingly broken German to him! It's good to know that I still understand most of it, even though I can't speak it as well as I used to. The sausage guy seemed pretty thrilled to sprech his Sprach! I don't think he gets to do that very often.

Tonight Nathan took me to the Sound Alliance concert at the college. We thought the Sound Alliance was a choir, but it's a jazz band. Nathan needed to attend two "events" this semester for his humanities class, and he went to one on Thursday and one tonight. Way to leave it to the last minute! All the same, the concert was a blast. I forgot how much fun jazz band was, and they were phenomenal!

Sooooo this is definitely a nice change! I have something to talk about and I am really excited to do so! I have actually been too busy to update my food blog, but I will try to do that tomorrow, if I have time before church or energy after church. I have to teach Relief Society AND my regular secretarial duties! Also, the ward choir is singing in sacrament meeting tomorrow; wish us luck! I should probably, like, finish preparing my lesson but I think I would rather go to bed early haha. I'm an incredibly lazy person.

  1. Free parking anywhere on campus? That's like the holy grail of college.
