So about 9 & 3/4 of Nathan's aunts came to town for the weekend to surprise his mom for her birthday! It was pretty cool, but I didn't expect to meet them all so soon! Please enjoy my insightful opinion on each of them.
Marcy: I'm just going to go ahead and say I like her, but only because I want to be able to go to her house for dinner when Nathan and I are in Rexburg. Just kidding, I actually do like her.
Suzanne: She's a few quarters short of a nickel, if you know what I mean.
Sherri: She hates mushrooms. I don't know how I feel about that. Otherwise she's pretty cool.
Tia: She's pretty rad. She referenced Horcruxes and Pokemon in two seperate haikus.
Keira: Just as awful as I thought she would be. Plus her baby cries a lot. To be fair, I would cry, too, if I had his mom.
These incredibly kind (well, four of them, plus Nathan's mom) ladies threw me an impromptu shower tonight! I was kind of creeped out at first, because it started off in the direction of some sort of ritual hazing, which probably would not have boded well for me. I swore off hazing a long time ago, but it was virtually painless!
There was a haiku-writing competition and then this game where you take a piece of paper behind your back and tear a wedding dress. Mine was definitely the worst, but whatever. Then we ate some pear crisp and then they gave me presents! I was kind of in shock, because I was expecting a bunch of cheesy and/or silly gifts (which would have been great) but instead they got me a bunch of awesome kitchen gear! I REALLY want to make a pizza, but there's probably some taboo about using wedding gifts before you're married. Nathan probably needs to stash them somewhere before I jinx our marriage or something.
Speaking of Nathan, he's sick again. Poor guy. This probably means that I'm going to get sick soon. Ick. I was sick in late August or early September and getting sick again just wouldn't be fair. I'm selfish. Sorry :(
We watched Wednesday's episode of Glee tonight and IT WAS AWESOME. If you're not watching this, you should. Seriously.
A few quarters short of a nickel?! I think I resemble that remark.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to meet you, write a haiku, and rip a dress with you. We "aunts" are a fairly tame bunch, if you can get used to the quantity.
